This program is designed for a wide variety of students, including those interested in studying the political and economic challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa and developing nations, and those interested in studying West African cultural practices in various musical and dance forms. This program also offers wonderful opportunities, in the classroom and in the community, for students interested in critical issues of public health, development, and African history and culture. Through these mechanisms students become participants in, and contributors to, Ghanaian intellectual, cultural, economic, and social life.

The CIEE Amman Jordan Language and Culture Program is designed for students who have an interest in Jordan and the Middle East. Courses are offered in the areas of Arabic language, anthropology, history, economics, literature, religion, archaeology, environment, political science, and the media. This program is very suitable for a student who would like to do volunteer work or an internship.
Program Overview
- Intensive language courses in modern standard and colloquial Jordanian Arabic
- Community involvement through volunteer opportunities for all students and internships for academic year students
- Area studies courses taught in English and guest lectures on history and current social, political, and cultural issues
- Excursions including a two-day trip to Petra and a one-day trip to the north of Jordan to Jerash and Um Qais Cultural and educational activities such as visits to museums, theaters, and galleries

Semester Program
This program is appropriate for students from all academic disciplines who have a strong interest in learning about transformation in contemporary South Africa in a picturesque college-town setting. Study alongside South African students while taking Stellenbosch University courses and engage in the community through personalized volunteer opportunities.

Summer Program
This summer program is appropriate for students from all academic disciplines who have a strong interest in learning about transformation in contemporary South Africa in a picturesque, college-town setting. From the campus community to the greater society beyond Stellenbosch, students become participants in this dynamic and evolving environment. CIEE students take Introduction to South African History, Politics, and Economics and typically choose two other courses from among the courses offered within the Stellenbosch Summer School.
Program Overview
- Gain insight into South African history, politics, economics, and culture
- Explore the beauty and diversity of the Western Cape through integrated excursions which highlight topics discussed in class
- Participate in innovative cultural workshops on the South African wine industry, Afrikkans and Xhosa language, and South African music and cinema Live on a beautiful campus in a college town setting
- Cultural and educational activities such as visits to Robben Island, the District 6 Museum in Cape Town, Cape Point, Kayamandi township, and the Cape Muslim Community
- Excursion to the Karoo region or the Garden route
