In addition to the TCU programs, the Center for International Studies: TCU Abroad collaborates with international universities and program providers in order to offer a rich variety of semester and summer Exchange Programs and Partner Programs
TCU offers several exchange programs that combine language-intensive courses with English-taught area studies courses. Students can spend a semester or a year on any of our sister campuses for the cost of TCU tuition and local housing. Students have the unique opportunity of being on a college campus while studying with other non-native students. All TCU scholarships and financial aid may be applied.
Students need to have a high level of independence and intitiative to succeed as an exchange student. In many cases, TCU is limited to one exchange student per university, so students may be the only TCU student there, but there will be other American students in their classes. Students may need to arrange their own housing in some locations, but the universities have information and housing agencies available. TCU's Exchanges are:
- Aoyama University, Tokyo Japan
- Kansai Gaidai University, Osaka Japan
- Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
- Universidad Mayor, Santiago Chile
To ensure the application of credits from exchange programs, students must complete the Credit Approval Form with their academic advisors, department chair, and dean.
TCU Partner Programs are select study abroad programs offered through third-party organizations such as IES or CIEE. TCU Partner programs are designed to enhance offerings to students and provide opportunities where TCU has no program.
Partner Program courses count as TCU residency graded credit, and TCU scholarships and financial aid may be used. Students pay TCU tuition and a program fee for the additional location-specific program costs, such as housing, on-site services, and insurance.
These programs have been selected by the Center for International Studies based on the quality of the program, CIS’ familiarity with the program, and the location. This ensures quality academic experiences and strong communication between TCU and the affiliate. Please click here to see the selection criteria. A wide range of locations and academic disciplines are covered by these locations, including:
Africa / Middle East: Ghana, Jordan, South Africa
Asia: China, India, Japan, Thailand
Australia / New Zealand: Australia, New Zealand
Europe: Austria, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Russia
Central and South America: Argentina, Dominican Republic, Ecuador
Some courses are designed exclusively for program participants, while others are offered through local universities. Courses may be in English or the local language; housing may be with locals or with other Americans. Previous language study or other prerequisites may be required. Many of the programs feature internships in businesses, services organizations, public relations firms, and governmental institutions.
To ensure the application of credits from Partner Programs, students must complete the Credit Approval Form with their academic advisors, department chair, and dean.
If a student is interested in a destination where no Partner Program exists, or the Partner Programs do not meet the student’s academic needs, the student may contact the Center for International Studies to review other programs and petition to receive approval to study on another program.
